1. WHERE ARE THE WHEELS?

Z. WHERE IS THE ENGINE?

IN MOST VEHICLES, THE ENGINE IS BETWEENTHEFRONT WHEELS.

BUT RACE CARS OFTEN HAVE AN ENGINEBETWEEN THE FRONTAND REAR AXLES. HAVING THE WEIGHT OF THEENGINE IN THE CENTER OF THE CAR PROVIDES GREATER BALANCE ANDHANDLING,SO DRIVERS CAN TAKE CURVES AT EXTREME SPEEDS.

FOR CONSTRUCTION VEHICLESTHAT NEED TO LIFT HEAVY LOADS,THEENGINEISOFTENMOUNTEDIN THE REAR, WHERE IT ACTS AS ACOUNTERWEIGHT.

PUT YOUR BEST FACE FORWARD

ONCE YOU HAVE A GOOD BASE FOR YOUR VEHICLE, IT’S TIME TO DRESS IT UP WITH DETAILS. SMALL TOUCHES CAN GIVE A VEHICLE UNIQUE CHARACTER AND EXTRA REALISM. THE FRONT OF A CAR IS VERY IMPORTANT-IT’S SOMETHING LIKE A PERSON’S FACE! THINK ABOUT DETAILS一LIKE HEADLIGHTS, GRILLES, COOLING VENTS FOR THE ENGINE, AND REARVIEW MIRRORS-THAT CAN MAKE THE DESIGN REALLY POP. (JUST DON’T FORGET TO ADD SOME DETAIL TO THE SIDES AND REAR AS WELL.)

GETTING CREATIVE WITH PARTS

WHEN YOU’RE BUILDING, IT REALLY DOESN’T MATTER WHAT BRICKS YOU START WITH. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO BE CREATIVE WITH THE MATERIALS

HOW BRICKS FIT TOGETHER

THE LEGO BUILDING SYSTEM HAS A FEW DIFFERENT WAYS TO MEASURE DISTANCE. WE’LL USUALLY MEASURE PIECES IN TERMS OF THEIR WIDTH AND THEIR HEIGHT. THE LEGO BRICK ON THE RIGHT IS 2 STUDS WIDE AND 1 BRICK HIGH. THREE PLATES ARE EQUAL IN HEIGHT TO ONE BRICK.

A LOT OF BUILDERS KNOW THAT. BUT THERE’S A TOP-SECRET MAGICFORMULATHATONLYEXPERTBUILDERSKNOW:

SO WHAT DOES THIS IMPLY?
